Strong focus on quality
The company was founded in 2005 by Professor Karsten Pedersen and Dr. Lotta Hallbeck, who were both researchers at the University of Gothenburg. During its early years, Micans primarily focused on international research and laboratory services related to the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Over the past ten years, however, the company’s focus has shifted to Life Science and MedTech.
– Our laboratory and expertise are continuously evolving, and we always place great emphasis on thorough documentation and quality, as required by both Swedac and our customers, says Karsten Pedersen.
– Today, we offer accredited testing services including bioburden testing, sterility testing, and endotoxin analysis.
Fully aware of the factors behind its success, Micans has chosen a strategy of organic growth combined with the continuous development of its processes and quality and management systems. During 2026, the company inaugurated its new high-quality cleanroom.
– Here, we perform testing and analyses in a strictly controlled environment free from dust, bacteria, and other particles. We also provide cleanroom validation services for companies that operate cleanrooms within their own facilities, says Andreas Bengtsson.
Micans’ laboratory is accredited by Swedac in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2018, and the company is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
