From Family Business to Nordic Growth Journey, Astomed Accelerates

From a Swedish family-owned company to one of the Nordic region’s leading full-service suppliers of equipment and products for aesthetic clinics. As Astomed celebrates its 20th anniversary, the company is entering its next phase, with medical technology, expertise, and safety at its core, while setting its sights on emerging fields such as longevity. At the helm is CEO Jocke Mangs, who has carried forward his father’s life’s work and built a Nordic business serving more than 5,000 customers.

When Thomas Sidén founded Astomed in 2006, his ambition was to raise standards within the aesthetic industry and make a difference for both practitioners and patients. He travelled the world, attending trade fairs, congresses, and training programmes in search of new products, technologies, and solutions, always with quality, innovation, and long-term customer relationships as guiding principles.

Twenty years later, the company has grown significantly. Astomed now operates in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Its portfolio includes advanced laser and IPL systems, as well as fillers, skin boosters, and professional skincare products. These are complemented by technical service, product specialists, and continuous professional training.

The ambition is to be a stable, long-term partner throughout every stage of a clinic’s development.

– It’s not just about selling a product or a device. We want our customers to feel that we are there for them long after the purchase, says Jocke Mangs.

‍

From Family Business to European Group

When Jocke took over the company, his mission was not simply to preserve what his father had built. Under his leadership, Astomed has expanded across the Nordic region and broadened its offering, evolving from a product supplier into a comprehensive partner for professional aesthetic clinics.

Since 2021, Astomed has been part of OneMed/Asker Healthcare Group, a major European healthcare group with multi-billion-euro revenues and operations across numerous markets. Becoming part of a larger organisation has created new opportunities while allowing Astomed to retain the close customer relationships that have defined the company since its founding.

‍

Astomed Academy, Knowledge as Part of the Offering

One of the company’s most important strategic initiatives is Astomed Academy.

As the aesthetic industry continues to professionalise, expectations regarding competence, documentation, and patient safety are increasing. Astomed therefore aims not only to provide products and technology, but also to deliver the knowledge required to use them safely and effectively.

Through training programmes, workshops, and hands-on education, Astomed Academy will strengthen the expertise of aesthetic clinics and contribute to raising standards of knowledge and safety throughout the industry.

The Next Frontier: Longevity

At the same time, Astomed is looking beyond today’s market. One development that Jocke Mangs is following particularly closely is how the boundaries between aesthetics, skin health, prevention, nutrition, and longevity are becoming increasingly blurred.

In his view, the future of skincare will not only be defined by what is applied to the skin or which treatments are performed in the clinic. Lifestyle, nutrition, and overall health will become increasingly important components of a holistic approach.

For a company already positioned at the intersection of medical technology, advanced treatment systems, and professional skincare, this development creates opportunities for new product areas and partnerships. It also opens the door for life science and MedTech companies seeking an established route into the Nordic market.

– We believe the future will increasingly be about the bigger picture. That’s where we see tremendous opportunities for growth and innovation.

The Trophies Reveal Another Career

Jocke’s office tells the story of a rather unusual CEO background. Trophies, medals, and awards reveal a previous career far removed from business.

For many years, Jocke competed as a professional racing driver at the highest international level, becoming a multiple champion and achieving major success in some of motorsport’s most competitive racing series, including the Porsche Carrera Cup. In 2009, he was named Racing Driver of the Year by the Swedish motorsport magazine Bilsport.

The transition from motorsport to business may seem like a major leap, but Jocke sees many similarities: precision, meticulous preparation, continuous improvement, and above all, the importance of a strong team.

– In racing, you can be the fastest driver on the track, but without a great team you won’t get very far. Running a business is very much the same.

His competitive spirit has followed him from the racetrack into Astomed. Today, however, chasing tenths of a second has been replaced by pursuing the next innovation, the next area of development, and the next way to create value for customers.

After 20 years, Astomed has come a long way from the company Thomas Sidén founded in 2006. Yet the original philosophy remains unchanged: to stay curious about what comes next, build long-term relationships, and continuously raise the bar.
