AutomationsPartner – Delivering unique automation solutions to the medtech and pharma industries

Swedish AutomationsPartner designs and delivers advanced, tailor-made automation solutions to world-leading companies in the medtech and pharma industries, where machine development often runs in parallel with the customer’s product development. In autumn 2025, AutomationsPartner will be ready to deliver its latest unique automation solution, where the company for the first time is using Beckhoff’s XPlanar – small floating magnetic “movers” – to create a more flexible and adaptable production solution.

AutomationsPartner was founded in the early 1990s with the aim of designing, producing, and delivering advanced automation solutions to the medtech and pharma industries – global sectors with high demands on quality, traceability, and flexibility. With more than 300 completed projects, the company’s expertise ranges from feasibility studies and concept development to design, production, commissioning, and service.

– “The key to our success lies in our innovation capacity, expertise, quality, attentiveness, and flexibility. We work closely with our customers and build a partnership where we exchange knowledge and ideas to quickly identify and solve challenges that arise along the way,” says Henrik Rosengren, CEO of AutomationsPartner.

The medtech and pharma industries are characterized by constant development and strict regulatory requirements, where the path from product development to a finished and approved product is long and complex. Even small delays can have major consequences, and to save time, AutomationsPartner is often asked if they can build machines for products that are not yet fully developed.

– “Developing machines in parallel with product development places high demands on flexibility and adaptability in both design and production, and we are one of the few European companies in the industry capable of handling such challenges.”

High-quality development department

Innovation is a vital part of AutomationsPartner’s process. In 2024, the company inaugurated its new facility in Helsingborg, doubling the space for production, offices, and the automation lab, and introducing a brand-new AP Innovation Studio.

– “Our development department, AP Develop, plays a crucial role in testing and verifying critical processes early by carrying out Proof of Principle (PoP), which reduces the risks inherent in machine development, especially for products still under development.
– We have also insourced part of our manufacturing to gain greater control over the supply chain, enabling us to work more agilely and truly tailor solutions to customer needs. Through insourcing and a cross-functional approach, we can deliver solutions with short time-to-market and a high degree of customization,” says Henrik Rosengren.

AutomationsPartner uses modern technologies to create industry-unique, advanced automation solutions. In one of their latest projects, scheduled for delivery to an international customer in autumn 2025, the company has chosen to use Beckhoff’s XPlanar to create more flexible and modular production flows with high freedom of movement.

– “With Beckhoff’s unique concept of small contactless ‘movers’ that are individually controlled and can move in six degrees of freedom through magnetic levitation, we can design flows where products can be paused, rotated, freely moved, and run in parallel tracks without fixed rails or mechanical constraints,” explains Paul Duelund, Head of Marketing & Product at AutomationsPartner.
– “The true value for us lies in the system’s modularity and the freedom it provides in machine layout.”

The complete solution that makes the difference

Since the magnetically controlled system is built from standard modules, AutomationsPartner and the customer can quickly adjust, replace, add, or move stations without needing to rebuild the entire machine.

– “It is a flexibility that reinforces our already established approach of parallel product and machine development. What makes us successful is not just the technology we use, but how we use it,” says Paul Duelund.

By combining smart solutions such as Beckhoff’s XPlanar with the company’s internal development capacity, close customer collaboration, and in-house manufacturing, AutomationsPartner creates a complete solution that enables speed, precision, and flexibility.

– “This allows us to deliver customized machines with short lead times, high quality, and full process control, even in complex and rapidly changing projects,” says Henrik Rosengren.
